St. Kilda beach

Tram 95 goes from the city directly to one of the most popular beaches on Melbournes coast.

It takes about 20-35min to get there and eventho there are usually lots of people on the weekends it is still possilbe to find a quiet place somewhere as the beach is very long and clean.

The water is clean apart from some seagrass. There are no jellyfiah or sharks to worry about on these coasts. A lot of people keep telling me that it's up north in the area of Queensland where you have to worry about but not here.

Along the long beach promenade are various restaurant which are quite expensive. For example a regular chicken caesar salat costs around 24$. It becomes cheaper if you chose to eat in St.Kilda central where you also find a few mini shops.

You are allowed to bring alcoholic drink on the beach(!) which is quite nice while watching the sunset after a long day in the sun.

For those who sunburn very easily I would recomment to bring a sun umbrella as there is no shade what so ever. Do not underestimate the Australian sun!

Recommending +30 suncream but Australian brands!

Nearby is the famouse "Luna park" which is a small theme park with a few rollercostas and rides. It runnst the whole year but starts in the later afternoon/evening and free to get in, you only have to pay for the rides.
