Future music festival was touring with all the artist from the line-up(see image below) along the coast of Australia's main citys: Brisbane, Perth, Sydney, Adelaide & Melbourne.
Visit the fanpage on fb here.
History:
The festival began in 2006 as a one day independent festival at Sydney's Royal Randwick Racecourse.[2] In 2007 it evolved into a massive travelling festival like the Big Day Out and Soundwave which visited Brisbane, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. In December 2011, Future Entertainment announced that the Future Music Festival would expand out to Asia for the 2012 festival with a show held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia which was headlined by The Chemical Brothers. The Asian leg of the festival has a similarity to the one in Australia with a mixture of local and international acts.
This year's headline was the house DJ Avicii followed by various famouse names such as the Cocoon Heros including Sven Väth, Richie Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos and big names such as the Prodigy, Bloc party, Nervo, Hardwell, Boys Noize, the english rapper Dizzie Rascal, Azealia Banks and the amazing singers Rita Ora and Ellie Goulding,...ect. these are just a few names on the line up for the different stages (see map below).
For a fun performance was the korean singer Psy with his one hit wonder gangnam sytel invited.
The festival app for iphones was very helpful in order to make a personalized planner for the set-times and djs involved, so you can manage your time and where to go next after one DJ finished. Just simply click on the + next to the Dj names and the app will add it to your planner list.
(see my planner below)
This app was also good to read the newest updates on the festival, social media, a map and a life radio as well as life TV. VERY USEFUL when you wonder around the festival and you don't even need internet to use it.*****
The transport from and to the festival was very organized too. They had special trains running from and too Flinder street. Once I arrived the ticket lines when pretty quick so you could get in with a valued original or printed ticket straight away.
With these festival you should or actually need to have a VISA card to order the tickets online! It is much easier than looking for a actual station to buy them with cash. This way, they will just sent your ticket to your email address and you can print it at home with the barcode on it conveniently so they can scan the code afterwards at the venue.
Every festival has it's merchandize stand where you can buy t-shirts, headbands, and many more stuff from the festival as souvenirs. T-shirts are around 40$ each.
The festival itself has many different stages in order to cover different music genres and artists at the same time so you just have to walk around these tents and stages.
Food-stalls areas and bars are provided at every festival as there is no way you can go out and come back in again or take food with you inside. It isn't cheap, but the only way to eat or drink beside free water-fountains where you can fill up your plastic bottle and I have to say they didn't have many different food stall as in the UK with vegetarians, burger-grill, vegan and sweet/bakery stalls.
Fries are around 5$ and burgers 12$. A frozen cocktail comes to 12$ wile beer was about 6$.
In england they even have these "fun-play" tents or stalls everywhere additionally to the stages. There you can have small competition with your friends always good for a laugh.
The the future music you got the big wheel and various roller-coster related rides. (see images below).
AND there was a foam-party-field which had more cheese fun music and sun-beds :D brilliant when it's very hot as they had showers after.
The weather was brilliant but I thought it was a bit too hot when u run around in the sun all day. At the first AID tents you can get free +30 suncream and small tents to sit underneath in the shades where everywhere so you can just sit down and cool off or rest for a bit while (for example) eating.
You have to be careful when you'r out in the sun all day as I said early and drink enough water so you don't dehydrate.
Especially at the main stage is a small area where they don't let too many people in as it is the closest area to the main stage and where it can easily get overcrowded. This way the securities avoid too many people on one place so no panic can break out or people get hurt or squeezed to hard to the barriers.
I went in there only to see Nervo at 1.45pm. Their music is brilliant and I always wanted to see the two power-girls live. It was absolutely too hot and that's why I decided no to go in there any more as the body-heat from people and the sun where too much but apart from that it was a amazing show and I loved watching them when the beat drops.
The next artist at the 2nd biggest stage next to it was Ellie Goulding at 2pm. Her voice is just gorgeous and
the crowd was singing her songs with her. I was watching at the back and could perfectly see everything.(they even have bigger screens to watch).
Coming back to the main stages was Rita ora was on at 2.30pm , she dyed her hair blond and hot some fun trousers on=). During her performance me and my australian friends and people we just met decided to get some food.
It is very easy and fun to get to know random people at the festival. Especially when u sit down somewhere or dance next to a group. You get to know a lot of fun and interesting people from all over the world and it's interesting to see who they want to see perform as you get different answers and reactions and maybe they tell you stuff you didn't even know what's on or a good artist who is playing.
4.15 - Azealia banks is a well known female singer&rapper at the Mazda2 Mariachi stage. She had very long hair and her whole outfit was in black, I was wondering if she wasn't too hot while performing but she managed just fine and hit some great tunes with the DJ and the dancers on her side.
4.30- PSY was the korean fun guy on back at the main stage. I think he's just a "one hit wondern" as the song gangnam sytle is just ridiculous but hilarious. It is that stupid that it's "cool" again. People ran to the stage when they saw him and started laughing and immediately dancing his famous dance moves to the song. Too funny!
5pm - till 6pm: The tent on the other side of the festival a bit hidden was especially for the "cocoon hero" lable where huge names such as Sven Väth (very long in the business) Richie Hawtin and Ricardo Villalobos were performing. In my opinion the best vibe, light-effects and the best sound-system as the tent holds a lot in.
7pm - The english rapper Dizzie Ruscal hat the most engaging show for the fans and a lot well know international tunes to sing with him...brilliant performer and fun to watch when he jumps one one side to the other ;)
The final count made Hardwell with his vibrant techno sets for the best worm up in the evening and the headliners at 8pm.
The last bit was a bit tricky as 3 DJs were on at the same time at 3 different stages/tent.
I decided to see the prodigy first as I've never seen something of them but heard it was good. It was deffinetly to hard for me and to much moshing plus pushing around in the crowd so I decided to see Avicii at the main stage.
I usually don't listen to a lot of his songs only Levels and Levels2, and I could be the one, are my favourit, but he was brilliant life and had some very deep and touching songs to sing with. The lightshow was incredible as it was dark by the time he performed and I love the laser shows!
Bloc party had the same mind-blowing program so I couldn't really decide where to stay but the last song was at the main stage from Avicii (Levels) and I have to say, this song was 2years ago and will always be a brilliant tune in my opinion.
However, after that the show was over and we all had to find our friends somewhere or just go back to the trains. It only took 30min back in town!
WHAT A BRILLIANT FESTIVAL DAY AND EVENING THIS WAS *happy*
